Welcome to Powick Parish Magazine
on the web.
The Parish of Powick lies between the the
City of Worcester and the towns of Malvern, (See map below) in
the county of Worcestershire. Powick Parish is comprised of a
number of villages and hamlets, Powick itself being only one
of them. Others are Callow End, almost equal in size to Powick;
Colletts Green; Deblins Green; Clevelode and Bastonford. Recently
Powick has been made part of a bigger diocesan benefice, to be
joined with Guarlford and Madresfield with Newland.
|
| Historically,
the parish was heavily involved in the Battle of Worcester towards the
end of the English Civil War, evidence of this being seen in numerous
shot marks all over Powick Church.
On the following pages you will find some items published in the monthly
magazine (11 issues actually, Dec/Jan being combined), and pointers to
other articles of interest that can be found within its pages. This is
an attempt to persuade you to buy the magazine, as we have to sell it
to make it viable.
At present there are approx. 750 copies per month printed, 725 being for
subscribers, a few for posting outside the area, the rest held at the
churches of Powick and Callow End for sale to non-subscribers.
The magazine costs 30p for single issues, but subscribers pay £3
per year including delivery to the door, a saving of 30p. If you wish
to receive regular issues to ensure being kept up-to-date on what is happening
in this busy corner of the world, you can email the editor at:
It is hoped this will only be the basics of our web-site. In the future
we will be incorporating more information about the Parishes and Benefice
of Powick and Callow End with Guarlford and Madresfield with Newland.
Photographs of interesting features may be added, to brighten
up the pages, and adverts from local companies prepared to sponsor
us cannot be ruled out.
Links may also be added to other sites where they provide interesting
articles about the surrounding areas.
